Employee Spotlight: Christina Halverson

This month’s Employee Spotlight features the Account Executive from our Billings office, Christina Halverson! During the interview, she tells why Vision Net’s company culture it’s one of the best work cultures she has experienced.

What is your position here at Vision Net and what do you do?

I’m an Account Executive which is a fancy word for sales!

How long have you worked at Vision Net?

I’ve been here for over a year.

What made you choose Vision Net?

I was really impressed with the energy of the staff, and the managers who interviewed me; I could tell it would be a great company to work for. And I heard, from some other people that I know in the community, that the CEO and employees at Vision Net are top notch.

What’s your favorite Vision Net perk?

In our Great Falls headquarters I really love the rec room, the area where you can come to sit and take a break.

What are 3 words to describe Vision Net?

Dedicated, proactive and fun.

What are the challenges of being in our Billings office and working on a daily basis with your manager who is located in Great Falls?

My whole team is in Great Falls and I’m in Billings but it works fine, between calling, conference calling, sharing screens, etc. technology allows us to work together seamlessly. Obviously is nice to have face to face meetings, which is part of why I enjoy my trips to Great Falls.

What advice do you have for prospective Vision Net candidates?

If you’re thinking of applying for a job here- do it! Vision net has a great culture and it’s a fantastic place to work.

Since you talked about the culture here, what can you tell us about it?

I feel that the Vision Net culture is work hard, play hard. We have a lot of fun together, like when I visit the Great Falls office, but the employees here are really hard working. There’s good communication with one other and no toxicity. You feel appreciated as an employee constantly. This is one of the best work cultures I have experienced.

What’s the first thing you do when you get to work each morning?

I make sure I have enough coffee and put away my food in the fridge. I tried to have a bit of a routine, like answering emails in the morning, but in my position, I try to be more proactive in reaching out to customers; in sales the day/customers will dictate your schedule.

What do you like most about your job?

I love the fact that my job is a combo of working in the office or I am out and about meeting people, going to networking events, etc. I like having that variation in my day. And I love meeting business owners and understanding how their business works, then figuring out ways which they need help and being able to meet that need.

What do you find the most challenging about your job?

Just being sales in general. Sometimes people just see the number and not the value of the product, but it’s also the most enjoyable part to show how are our products can help their business.

What people would never guess you do in your role?

I’m not an engineer so I don’t understand all the complexities on how some products works behind the scenes. But I do get involved in that a lot, as far as facilitating calls between my customers and engineers.

Are there any projects you’ve worked on that you’re proud of?

I’m proud anytime I can fill a need for a client, and once a project is completed or installed, hearing back from the costumer that they are happy with it – that we have a great team and are responsive – that’s always a win.

What’s something that you’ve learned at Vision Net?

I learned that work can be fun, obviously it has a lot to do with the people and the culture in the company. But I also think it’s your attitude as well.

What do you like to do when you aren’t working?

I love to hang out with my husband and our cats. I’m big into to home improvement stuff, I love decorating and painting. I love any community event Billings puts on- it’s an excellent place to live.

What has been the most important innovation you have witnessed in your lifetime?

Technology in general (i.e. phone apps), the ways people communicate nowadays, which I think it’s fun, different and cool. But at the same time, we need to call each other more, be more face to face versus texting all the time.

Do you have a favorite newspaper, blog?

I like to read DIY blogs, people who do their own house stuff, I love to learn about that. Every day I check the local and national news. I’ll also admit I like gossip news, which is terrible, I hate that about myself, but sometimes I like to read about celebrity feuds.

What was the last movie you saw in theaters?

Once upon a time in Hollywood.

Do you have any talents or hobbies?

DIY projects are a huge interest of mine. I accumulated some fun tools over the years, I just recently got a nail gun, which has been interesting.

How do you define success?

I think now being in my 30’s, I’m realizing that being successful is more than reaching a goal, and it’s okay to fail and stumble along the way. You constantly have to work at it and make tweaks to be where you want to be.
